Distribution Agreement Clarification

$
0
0

Hello, I recently have signed my company up to distribute Adobe Products through custom .wim file and Group Policy. I am just looking for a little clarification on the terms of the license agreement, specifically 3.4 (b) "Upon release of new version of the software, distributor will cease reproduction and distribution of previous version".

Forgive me for being a bit slow and confused on the "Reproduction" but how do you define this vs "Production"? Am I allowed to run the previous version on my workstations after the new release requirements and I just have to make sure to distribute the new version going forward? Or am I required to upgrade all running instances at my company?

With regards to the above and the record keeping required in the event of an audit, what specifically is needed to be documented?

-Just the event of distribution of the software? (i.e: Month 1 - 20 Installs, Month 2 - 10 installs)

OR

- The event of distribution as well as version distributed (ie: Month 1 - 20 Installs of Flash 31, Month 2 - 10 Installs of Flash 32 in the event of a major release)

Same with Reader as well, I just used flash as the example because it is clearer of the version number available.

This is an over simplified example but I am just trying to do my best to illustrate my question and concerns.

Any Feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you!

- Bret

chrome_elf.dll missing error and HKCU registry keys

$

I have been trying to build a new install of Adobe Reader DC (17.012.20095) for deployment to our PC's using the customisation wizard and am experiencing a number of issues.

The first issue is that the customised install continuously throws errors when launched about chrome_elf.dll not existing, a full unaltered install places this file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroCEF

I assume something in my customisation removes this from being installed but how do i stop Reader from looking for it?

The only workarounds seem to be building in something to copy the file or by deleting RdrCEF.exe and RdrServicesUpdater.exe from the directory which will both resolve the issue but would i rather Adobe fixed the underlying issue with the installer or customisation tool.

The second issue relates to adding in HKCU entries into the customisation wizard and them not working and ending up in  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\[RegistryHiveName]\Installer\Migrate

This same issue was reported in 2015 but still does not seem to be fixed?

Removing some unnecessary tools from Tools Pane

Hi!

Adobe (Acrobat) Reader DC. In Tools Pane appear many tools unusable for users, I mean – when they try to use these (some of) they will be redirected to … Anyway, is there possible (using registry or script etc.) to remove some tools from Tools Pane, firstly these which users can’t use? Yes, I’m aware there is no such option for Reader in customization wizard, but perhaps is some other options to accomplish this. Very confusing for users to have options they can’t use anyway. Also, I’m not sure removing Tools Pane in full is good ideas as some of tools could be handy (which is directly usable in Reader and don’t need any … purchase or setup, you know.).

More thanks, Alar.

PS! Sorry if this question is answered somewhere here, couldn’t find. Please point.

Can Acrobat X and Reader DC co-exist?

We have a Windows Server 2016 Remote Desktop environment, on which Adobe Acrobat X and Adobe Reader DC are installed. Users are not able to select Acrobat X as their default PDF handler, not via Explorer or via Acrobat X. When trying so using Acrobat X, an installer windows will open and eventually crash.

When I perform a repair of the Acrobat X installation, everything will be fine for a few days, but after a few days the exact some problems occur. Can Acrobat X and Reader DC co-exist? On Windows Server 2016 Remote Desktop?

Installing Acrobat through ConnectWise LabTech Script

I have 14 computers that need Acrobat Reader installed and I was trying to do it via a script through our LabTech software using shell commands.

while the commands do run on their own directly from the workstations (i have a separate workstation that i have been using to test my scripts) I cant seem to get them to work through LabTech. I have reached out to Labtech and am still waiting to hear from them and I have tried to call Adobe but they do not provide phone support for Reader. I would like to know what I need to properly set up a script that I can input into LabTech and install Adobe Reader silently.

Licensing Adobe CC with Citrix App Layering

Good Morning,

we use virtual desktops and the Adobe CC applications should provide with Citrix AppLayer Technology. Simply put, we starting the virtual machine and add the application after starting (if the user have the permission). Here we have the problem that the user gets a new PC name every day. Due to this fact the user have to add his username and password every day again. Now my question: It is possible to do a workaround? Is it possible to
change our User license to license with one serial number?

I find a post in a forum (it seems like our problem)

Acrobat Pro 2017 (Classic) "Your trial has expired"

We're having some issues with licencing for Acrobat Pro 2017 (Classic) on our Remote Desktop Server (Windows Server 2012 R2)

It was installed in March and has been OK up until about a week ago, it's now giving a message stating the trial has expired. There were 5 licences purchased (Transactional Licencing Program) and the product was originally licenced and activated with the serial number provided for us in the Adobe LWS portal.

I've tried signing in and activating. I've uninstalled Acrobat, run the Acrobat clean up tool, rebooted the server and reinstalled. I've run then Acrobat Customization Wizard, added the serial number and enabled the Offline Exception. Users no longer are prompted to sign in but it's still stuck in a trial state. I've also tried to serialize it through the APTEE utility which seems to complete with a return code of 0 but still has the same issue.

Not really sure what to try next, hopefully someone here is able to assist.

How to Silently uninstall Acrobat 2015 using command line and either AcroReaderTool or Acrobat Uninstaller on a Mac

$

I have both the AcroCleaner tool and the built in Acrobat Uninstaller tool for Acrobat 2015 installed on a mac.

I can, Of course, manually run each of these tools but I want to run a silent Uninstall from the command line.  there doesnt seem to be any relevant documentation on how to pass parameters to either of these applications or indeed, what those parameters are.

I have searched and googled and looked at the forums etc with no definitive answers for these specific tools.

the command line options for Acrobat Pro X etc or CC do not seem to work

Any help would be most appreciated.

Acrobat Reader DC proxy popup

Hi all, we have recently upgraded to reader DC and we are now getting a proxy popup when we go to save, print and sometimes open PDF's.  we use messagelabs for our web filtering and it's that that's blocking whatever URL it's trying to connect to.  I found this page and whitelisted all the acrobat services URL's, still the popup appeared

Adobe Creative Cloud Network Endpoints

*.acrobat.com

*.echosign.com

*.echocdn.com

*.bam.nr-data.net

*.newrelic.com

Required by Adobe Acrobat services

I re-installed adobe reader using the customisation tool, disabling all online services and features....popup was still happening.

I then installed wireshark and saw it was trying to connect to https://files.acrobat.com.  i whitelisted that URL and it's STILL appearing.  My boss is really getting on at me to get it fixed but i don't know where to turn to next.  Googling it bring up loads of people with the same issue but i can't find an answer.

Can anyone help? anyone managed to resolve this?

thanks

Acrobat X Pro will not start after installing Windows 10 1803 update + on multiple machines.

Computers on the network are running Windows 10 pro update 1803-1809 build 17763.55.  The 1803 update was recently pushed to test machines on the network.  After the update was installed we noticed that adobe reader dc, adobe x pro and adobe touch was not loading.  When we start the application nothing would happen.  The acrobat.exe process and the acrord.exe process would start for a few seconds in task manager but would then just disappear.  Additionally, the below error message would be recorded every time the app was attempting to be open.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled each application.  I have also used the adobe clean-up tool.  I also tested the same programs on a freshly imaged machine after all windows updates were installed.  I have removed the machine from the domain and attempted to install it with no resolution.  The computers that are still on update 1709 and below are still able to use these products without issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

Enterprise environment and we're setting the Mode key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\Legacy\(product name)\(product code) to 0 to prevent download and updating of Acrobat Pro DC.  Even after setting the key I'm still seeing a checkbox next to the Automatic Updates under preferences.  Is this expected behavior?

We still want to manually check for updates so we don't want to hide the option using bUpdater.

Hello,

I am deploying on Adobe Acrobat reader for an enterprise.  I have used the Adobe Customization Wizard to generate a transform file (.MST file) and have been able to streamline the installation wizard.  I have checked the "Disable Upsell" option inside the installation Wizard:

Capture.PNG

However, it seems when I launch the application, in the bottom right corner there is still a message that offering a "Free Trail" of Acrobat Adobe reader.  We do not want this to display to our user community.  We would like to turn this off.  Is there any way to turn off this feature?

Adobe Acrobat DC crashes after installation

Hello.

I'm running Acrobat DC on a Windows 2016 Server with Citrix Virtual Apps 7.15 LTSR. I reinstalled the program, because my users have some problems.

On my first uninstallation I used the appwiz.cpl. After restarting the machine and install the program the App crashes.

Next try: I uses the cleanup utility, reboot the machine and install again. Same crash.

In the third run, I installed the program without a license key. Same problem.

I don't have any idea to solve the problem.

Here are my error messages:

AcroTray.exe has stopped working - Terminal environment

Considering the terrible way Adobe is reachable for support, I will try it this way with hopefully some results.

Our users have started getting errors using Adobe Reader X after the installation of Adobe Acrobat DC. They are getting the message “Acrotray.exe has stopped working”.

We have paid licenses so would like to request support on this matter seeing it’s AcroTray.exe, component of DC, that generates the error. I will elaborate our environment.

We have a customer with 50+ users who all log in on four Windows 2008 Standard x64 Terminal Servers. On this server they have multiple application like Office,

Adobe Reader X, and many more.

The customer requested to install Adobe Acrobat DC on all four servers next to the existing Adobe Reader X installation. After the deployment of DC, the users were getting

random Acrotray.exe error messages. Some get it when they log in to Windows on the Terminal Server and others get it when generating PDF.

We can’t reproduce the error using a test account on the same server as the users, this test user is a copy of a normal user.

Here are two examples of the Windows Eventlog: Applications.

VDI XenDesktop 7.16 Adobe Sign On Error

$

Have been running Adobe DC or Creative Suites using Named User deployment in a Cittrix XenDesk 7.16  environment using stateless machines with user profiles for 6months with no issues. Yesterday when users tried to login to Adobe DC they are getting the popup  for the "License limit reached" and the two options to either "sign me out of other computers so I can sign in here"or "I signed out of one computer so I can sign in here" Each user has their own Named User license assigned. What all of sudden could be causing the license to not "release/reset" when the VDI machine is shutdown. Once again this starting happening just yesterday and is taking place with separate companies that we support each with their own Adobe Subscription Accts. The architecture for the XenDesk environment is the same for all of them.

Adobe Acro Cleaner DC 2015 Uninstall Error Code -1073740940 Failed to Uninstall on Windows 10 1803

Trying to push an Uninstall script to our Windows 10 clients.  We are pushing AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.exe /silent /product=1 /cleanlevel=0 via SCCM to our clients running Windows 10 1803 and it is failing on 90% of them.  This is failing for both Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 and 2018.

Also when digging through C:\users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\RaftLogs we are seeing the below:

  2018-10-18.png

We have not had any of these issues pushing to our Windows 7 clients.

The entire reason we are forcing an uninstall is because our end users are seeing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 and 2018 hang and not allow them to open PDFs until the AcroRd32.exe process(s) are killed in the task manager manually.  We have never had this problem until we started rolling out Windows 10.

The only fix we found was to disable "Enable Protected Mode at startup" which is not an ideal fix.

Missing Shortcut from App-V Sequence

$

I've created an App-V sequence of Adobe Acrobat DC 18.011.20063 via the document App-V Deployment | Acrobat DC. When I test by installing on a VM using the Powershell command Add-AppvClientPackage <package.appv> -DynamicDeploymentConfiguration <DeploymentConfig.xml> | Publish-AppvClientPackage -Global | Mount-AppvClientPackage, it installs and launches successfully.

However, when the same sequence is pushed to the machine via SCCM, the Adobe Acrobat DC shortcut is missing from the Start Menu. The Distiller shortcut is present as well as all the files in the App-V folder. I've tried many things to get this to work properly and no luck.

There is an application in the DeploymentConfig.xml called AcrobatInfo.exe which has the same <name> as Adobe Acrobat DC. I've set that to "Application Enabled=False" and no luck.

Any ideas to help me out? I'm stumped.
